This article mainly focuses on how students are being kicked out of schools like never before. Students in urban schools in Connecticut have been getting suspended from elementary to high schools for many types of reasons for such things as fighting, defiance, and temper tantrum. In these articles it explains several different cases in which kids have got in suspended from their school. In one example they claim that "A mother with a boy in the Hartford school system said her son, who is now 10, has been suspended repeatedly over the years for aggressive behavior. He is now being tutored for two hours a day outside the classroom." The mother blamed the teacher for his behavior because they were not strict enough. She also explained how there has to be teachers who understand children and know how to maneuver around them. Another example was that a kid in high school brought a gun to school was expelled, moments later in the same high school a male has a pocket knife in his pocket which was not visible. The principle gave give detention but the school board of education expelled him. The principle thought that his punishment was "too extreme for the offense." Two different types of offense have got in the same punishment.
I really enjoy reading this article I was amazed about how even elementary students get suspended from school. Shouldn't young kids stay in school and get educated. The part in the article that surprised me the most was the part when the two high school students who have got in expelled from school for different reasons. The school board of education to it out of proportion with the young kid that had the pocket knife He already had several detentions I think that was good enough rather than the kid that had the gun.
This report was very interesting. This author wrote about several cases in which violence was happening in urban schools and some suburban areas. This report gave a lot of information about how students bring a lot of weapons to school, they also stated that high schools student usually carry weapons and now at this time some are even carrying handguns. This report, said that sometimes the teens that kill are teens that usually have a history of abuse, often brutal, starting when a child is too young to understand what is happening. They also state that many teachers believe that schools must be about learning and teaching students how to resolve conflict in a manner way. That way it can decrease the high numbers of conflicts between students. Also that sometimes students should be getting educated by their parents, they should already know how to fix problems. Towards the end of this report it told us about examples of how students got in trouble for many different types of cases.
While reading this report i found a lot of things that caught my attention and maybe think twice about walking next to a high school students. I think this report gave a lot of information that is very important. I was very shocked of the numbers of changes it showed through the years. I love how this report had several types of cases in which it gave a lot of information to make report more believable.
This report explains the bad behaviors in schools. In which it explains how we need better solutions than the ones that are already have. Many bad things happens in school that are times are not visible to the eye of school leadership. It was brought up that diversity and intensity are discipline problems that increase in schools. But to a surprise, schools are feeling pressured to create environments where children are safe and can learn. This report clearly gave a lot of ways that schools can be better. This also gave us a lot of information about some students that have been going through this and how all these issues reflect on the administrators.
I think this report is by far one of the understandable report. Like the other articles i have read they tell us all the bad things that happened but, in this article, they were able to give us some positive information. I think this report was great mainly because it made a lot of sense. Since now students are being thrown out of school they should let the administrator take care of that. The one that stand out to me was the first one when it stated getting tough is enough.
In this article it talks about how there are two main school discipline goals one in which "ensure the safety of staff and students" and the second one in which is to "create an environment conducive to learning." Disruptions interrupt lessons for all students, and disruptive students lose even more learning time. This article was also positive because it mainly talked about how school discipline can decrease bad students bad behaviors. Mainly talking about after a student commit a bad behavior everyone would no about it the administrators and the parents of the child. Also in this article it talked about increase positive behaviors by giving students rewards, and teaching students how to be respectable during class or in general.
I think this article was very informative and it gave a lot of great advice in which teachers can use to make there student more capeable of doing the right thing. I also agree with what this article was saying because other than the great advice it gave it also gave alot of knowledge that teachers can look at when they are in an issue. I really enjoy reading this article.
